How to uninstall Clipchamp on Windows
Export any finished videos you need before removing Clipchamp. Projects and their media are kept in the app's local data unless they are backed up to your account, so anything not exported or backed up can go with the app. This guide covers Microsoft Clipchamp installed per-user from the Microsoft Store (9P1J8S7CCWWT), the same package winget installs.
Quit Clipchamp first
Let any export finish, then close the window and check Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) for any Clipchamp.exe still listed.
Remove the app
Go to Settings › Apps › Installed apps, find Microsoft Clipchamp, and choose Uninstall, or run:
winget uninstall --id 9P1J8S7CCWWT
A Store app removes itself for your account without an administrator prompt, and Windows deletes its data folder along with it.
Where the data lives
| Location | What it holds | What to do |
|---|---|---|
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\Clipchamp.Clipchamp_yxz26nhyzhsrt |
The app's local data and caches | Windows removes it with the app |
%LOCALAPPDATA%\PlaceholderTileLogoFolder\9P1J8S7CCWWT |
A Start menu tile image Windows keeps for Store apps | Windows' own; leave it |
HKCU\Software\Classes\.qt |
The .qt video file type, which other players also register |
Shared; leave it |
Check the result
Run these read-only commands after the uninstall finishes:
Get-Process Clipchamp -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
Get-AppxPackage *Clipchamp*
Test-Path "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\Packages\Clipchamp.Clipchamp_yxz26nhyzhsrt"
- No output from
Get-Processonly means this query observed no matching process; a suppressed error leaves the running state unknown. - If
Get-AppxPackagesucceeds without suppressed errors, no output means the app is removed for your account; a listed package means it is still installed. Test-PathreturningFalsemeans the app's data folder is gone.
If you installed it with winget
winget uninstall removes the same Store package for your account, with the same result.
Account
Uninstalling does not delete your Clipchamp or Microsoft account, cancel a Microsoft 365 subscription that includes Clipchamp features, or remove projects backed up to that account. You can also open Clipchamp in a browser.
What Mole lists
For Clipchamp installed from the Microsoft Store:
- The app row takes the app's data folder in
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Packageswith it. - The Start menu tile image and the shared
.qtfile type are not listed.
What this test covered
Tested on September 28, 2026 with Microsoft Clipchamp 4.6.10420.0 installed through winget from the Microsoft Store, per-user scope, on an ARM64 test VM. The app was opened without signing in. Every listed row was ticked and removed in this test. Not verified: a signed-in account, projects and backups.
