How to uninstall Calibre on Windows
This guide covers the official Calibre 9.15.0 x64 Windows MSI installer. Keep your book library and any settings you need, then exit Calibre before uninstalling.
Uninstall the app
Uninstall Calibre from Windows Settings. The measured program folder was C:\Program Files\Calibre2.
Check the result
Test-Path 'C:\Program Files\Calibre2'
Test-Path "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\calibre-cache"
Test-Path "$env:APPDATA\calibre"
Test-Path 'HKCU:\SOFTWARE\calibre'
Test-Path "$env:ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\calibre 64bit - E-book Management\calibre 64bit - E-book management.lnk"
Test-Path "$env:PUBLIC\Desktop\calibre 64bit - E-book management.lnk"
A successful Test-Path query returns True when that specific path exists and False when it is absent. An error does not prove removal. Settings can remain after uninstalling; keep them if you want to use them again.
What Mole lists
The program folder, shortcuts, owned document-opening registrations and usage records are selected by default. %LOCALAPPDATA%\calibre-cache, %APPDATA%\calibre and HKCU\SOFTWARE\calibre are listed but not selected by default. Leave these rows unchecked to keep settings.
Your Calibre Library holds your books and is outside this uninstall review. The empty library created by the welcome wizard remained in this test, along with shared file-extension registrations.
What this test covered
Tested on October 6, 2026, with a Mole development build in a Windows 11 ARM64 VM, using the official Calibre 9.15.0 x64 MSI installer. This run selected the three settings rows. The paths checked above and the exact uninstall registration were absent afterward, and no owned application process remained. Real books, library recovery and the released Mole package were not tested.
A separate vendor uninstall left settings and document-opening registrations. The development build's scanner detected owned registrations immediately and settings at least ten minutes later. This checked detection only; no orphan data was removed. The native Clean page and released package were not tested.
