How to uninstall Bandizip on Windows
Bandizip keeps almost nothing of its own; removing it is mostly about the file types it registered to open archives. This guide covers Bandizip installed per-machine from the vendor's own installer.
Quit Bandizip first
Close any open archive windows, then check Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) for any Bandizip.exe still listed before you uninstall.
Remove the app with its own uninstaller
Go to Settings › Apps › Installed apps, find Bandizip, and choose Uninstall. Bandizip's own uninstaller opens a small window titled "Uninstall Bandizip", with a Cancel button and an Uninstall button and no "remove settings" checkbox; click Uninstall and let it finish.
Where the data lives
| Location | What it holds | What to do |
|---|---|---|
HKCU\SOFTWARE\Bandizip |
Your Bandizip preferences | In this test the uninstaller removed it on its own |
Bandizip registers itself to open many archive extensions (.zip, .7z, .rar, .001 and similar). Those file type registrations stay after Bandizip is gone, since Windows keeps one shared key per extension for whichever app opens it; if you install another archive tool, it can take over the same extensions.
Check the result
Run these read-only commands after the uninstall finishes:
Get-Process Bandizip -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
Test-Path "$env:ProgramFiles\Bandizip"
Get-ItemProperty "HKCU:\SOFTWARE\Bandizip" -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
- No output from
Get-Processonly means this query observed no matching process; a suppressed error leaves the running state unknown. A listed process means a window is still open. Test-PathreturningFalsemeans the program folder is gone;Truemeans files remain there.Get-ItemPropertyreturning values means the entry remains. With no output, check for permission or other query errors before deciding that it is absent.
What Mole lists
For Bandizip installed per-machine:
- The program folder is selected by default; in this test the uninstaller had already removed it before Mole's own step ran.
HKCU\SOFTWARE\Bandizipis listed but not selected; in this test the uninstaller had already removed it too.- The extension keys Bandizip registered for archive file types, and the shared right-click menu container they sit in, are left alone, since other archive tools can share them.
What this test covered
Tested with Bandizip 7.46 installed from the vendor's own installer package, machine scope, using its own uninstaller window. Every listed row was ticked and removed in this test.
