How to uninstall Bambu Studio on Windows
Your .3mf projects stay wherever you saved them, and removing Bambu Studio does not touch them. What lives in the app's own folders is your custom printer, filament and process presets and your local settings, so export or copy those first if you made any. This guide covers Bambu Studio installed machine-wide from the Bambulab.Bambustudio winget package, which puts it in %ProgramFiles%\Bambu Studio.
Quit Bambu Studio first
Save your projects, finish or cancel any slicing or print upload, and close the window. Check Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) for any bambu-studio process still listed. It adds no startup entry.
Remove the app with its own uninstaller
Go to Settings › Apps › Installed apps, find Bambu Studio, and choose Uninstall, or run:
winget uninstall --id Bambulab.Bambustudio
Windows asks for administrator access, since the app is installed for all users.
Where the data lives
| Location | What it holds | What to do |
|---|---|---|
%ProgramFiles%\Bambu Studio |
Program files | The uninstaller removes it |
%APPDATA%\BambuStudio |
User presets, settings, the signed-in session and a small Cache |
Back up if you made custom presets; remove it for a clean start |
%LOCALAPPDATA%\BambuStudio |
Local working data | Safe to remove after the app is gone |
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Bambulab |
A machine-wide key the installer writes | Left by the uninstaller; harmless |
Check the result
Run these read-only commands after the uninstall finishes:
Get-Process | Where-Object { $_.Path -like "*Bambu Studio*" }
winget list --id Bambulab.Bambustudio
Test-Path "$env:ProgramFiles\Bambu Studio"
Test-Path "$env:APPDATA\BambuStudio"
Test-Path "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\BambuStudio"
- If the first command succeeds without suppressed errors, no output means Bambu Studio is not running.
- A completed
winget listquery with no match means the package record is gone; a matching row means the uninstall did not finish. - The first
Test-PathreturningFalsemeans the program folder is gone. - The other two returning
Truemean your presets, settings and working data are still there, which is expected unless you removed them yourself.
If you installed it with winget
winget uninstall runs the same uninstaller Settings › Apps uses and removes the same program files; it does not touch the two BambuStudio data folders.
Account
Uninstalling does not sign you out of your Bambu Lab account or remove your printers from it. Presets synced to your account come back when you sign in again.
What Mole lists
For Bambu Studio installed machine-wide from winget:
- The program folder goes with the app row, together with a row grouping Windows' own records of when you opened the program, selected by default.
%APPDATA%\BambuStudioand%LOCALAPPDATA%\BambuStudioare listed but not selected. TheCachefolder inside%APPDATA%\BambuStudiois listed on its own and selected.- The Start Menu folder and the public desktop shortcut are selected by default.
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Bambulabis not listed.
What this test covered
Tested on 2026-09-28 with Bambu Studio 02.08.02.61 installed through winget, machine scope, on an ARM64 virtual machine. Its NSIS uninstaller ran silently. Every listed row was ticked and removed in this test. Not verified: a signed-in account, a connected printer and custom presets.
