How to uninstall Apple TV on Windows

Your Apple TV purchases, rentals and subscriptions belong to your Apple Account, not to this PC, so removing the app loses none of them. What goes with the app is what it stored locally, such as downloads for offline viewing, which you can download again after a reinstall. This guide covers Apple TV installed per-user from the Microsoft Store (9NM4T8B9JQZ1).

Quit Apple TV first

Stop playback and close the Apple TV window. It adds no startup entry; check Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) for any AppleTV.exe still listed.

Remove the app

Go to Settings › Apps › Installed apps, find Apple TV, and choose Uninstall, or right-click it in the Start menu and choose Uninstall. With winget:

winget uninstall --id 9NM4T8B9JQZ1

Windows removes the package together with its data container.

Check the result

No output from Get-Process only means this query observed no matching process; a suppressed error leaves the running state unknown.
If Get-AppxPackage succeeds without suppressed errors, no output means the app is no longer installed for you; a listed package means the removal did not finish.
Test-Path returning False means the data container is gone with the app.

Account and subscription

Uninstalling does not cancel an Apple TV+ subscription or any other Apple subscription, and it does not sign this PC out of your Apple Account's device list. Manage subscriptions and devices in your Apple Account settings.

What Mole lists

For Apple TV from the Microsoft Store:

The app and its data container under %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages are removed together from the app row, selected by default.
The Open with entries for .movpkg, .tvdb and .tvlibrary are not listed, since file type keys can be shared.

What this test covered

Tested on September 27, 2026 with Apple TV 1.1540.23558.0 installed from the Microsoft Store, per-user scope. No Apple Account was signed in, so purchases, downloads and subscriptions were not tested.
