How to uninstall AirServer on Windows
AirServer keeps its preferences in two small registry keys under your user profile and nothing else of yours on disk. If you bought a license, keep your activation code, since a reinstall asks for it again. This guide covers AirServer Universal (x64) installed machine-wide from the AppDynamic.AirServer winget package, a Windows Installer (MSI) package.
Quit AirServer first
Stop any mirroring session, then exit AirServer from its notification area icon. Check Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) for any AirServer.exe still listed before you uninstall. It added no startup entry in this test.
Remove the app with its own uninstaller
Go to Settings › Apps › Installed apps, find AirServer Universal (x64), and choose Uninstall, or run:
winget uninstall --id AppDynamic.AirServer
A machine-wide install asks for administrator access.
Where the data lives
| Location | What it holds | What to do |
|---|---|---|
%ProgramFiles%\App Dynamic\AirServer |
The program | Removed by the uninstaller |
Start Menu AirServer Universal (x64) folder (all users) |
Shortcuts | Removed by the uninstaller |
HKCU\SOFTWARE\App Dynamic\AirServer and HKCU\SOFTWARE\App Dynamic\AirServer64 |
Your AirServer preferences | Keep them if you might reinstall; safe to remove for a clean start |
Check the result
Run these read-only commands after the uninstall finishes:
Get-Process AirServer -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
winget list --id AppDynamic.AirServer
Test-Path "$env:ProgramFiles\App Dynamic\AirServer"
Test-Path "HKCU:\SOFTWARE\App Dynamic\AirServer"
Test-Path "HKCU:\SOFTWARE\App Dynamic\AirServer64"
- No output from
Get-Processonly means this query observed no matching process; a suppressed error leaves the running state unknown. - A completed
winget listquery with no match means the package record is gone; a matching row means the uninstall did not finish. - The first
Test-PathreturningFalsemeans the program folder is gone;Truemeans files remain there. - The next two returning
Truemeans your preference keys are still there, which is expected unless you removed them yourself.
If you installed it with winget
winget uninstall runs the same Windows Installer uninstall Settings › Apps uses and removes the same program files; it does not touch the two HKCU\SOFTWARE\App Dynamic keys.
License
Uninstalling does not return or deactivate your AirServer license. Check AirServer's own account or support pages if you want to move it to another PC.
What Mole lists
For AirServer Universal (x64) installed machine-wide from winget:
- The program folder goes with the app row. The Start Menu folder and a row grouping Windows' own records of when you opened the program are selected by default.
HKCU\SOFTWARE\App Dynamic\AirServerandHKCU\SOFTWARE\App Dynamic\AirServer64are listed but not selected, since they hold your preferences. Mole backs each key up to a.regfile before removing it.
What this test covered
Tested on September 26, 2026 with AirServer Universal (x64) 5.7.2 installed through winget, machine scope. Windows Installer removed the program folder and the Start Menu folder before Mole's own step ran. Every listed row was ticked and removed in this test. Not verified: a licensed copy, and mirroring from a phone.
