How to uninstall AFFiNE on Windows

Back up local workspaces you want to keep before uninstalling. This guide covers AFFiNE 0.27.4 installed per-user through winget. This run launched the app without verifying real notes or a synced account.

Remove the app

Find AFFiNE in Settings › Apps › Installed apps, or run this PowerShell command to invoke its own uninstaller.

Check the result

A successful winget query with no match means the package registration is absent; a query error leaves it unknown. False from Test-Path only confirms that path is absent, not that an account or cloud data was deleted.

What Mole lists

The program folder %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\AFFiNE, its own %LOCALAPPDATA%\AFFiNE-updater, shortcuts and the affine protocol pointing to its program are selected by default. %APPDATA%\AFFiNE is listed but not selected by default; measured disk caches, Crashpad and logs have separate selected rows.

data for review does not mean personal-data protection: “Also remove data” selects the entire folder. This run did not verify a workspace containing real notes, so it does not establish that bulk selection preserves notes. Leave the whole folder unchecked and back up local state you want to keep.

What this test covered

Tested on October 4, 2026, in a Windows 11 ARM64 VM with a Mole development build, covering first launch and uninstall. Real notes, sync or local-workspace retention, other installation channels and the released download were not verified. Automatic detection after an external uninstall was not verified.
