How to uninstall 360 Desktop Assistant on Windows
Back up the actual desktop files and any organizer settings before removing 360 Desktop Assistant. A box or group shown by an organizer is not an independent backup of its contents.
Save your data and quit
Open the real file locations from File Explorer and copy wanted files to a separate backup folder, then open a few copies. If Desktop is synchronized or redirected, use its actual location rather than assuming a fixed path. Exit the assistant through its own menu. Read the vendor’s retention choices without assuming their defaults were tested.
Uninstall the tested package
In Windows 11, open Settings › Apps › Installed apps, find 360 Desktop Assistant, and choose Uninstall. In Windows 10, use Settings › Apps › Apps & features. Keep the installed program folder intact until its uninstaller finishes. If this was the winget package, first confirm its exact identity:
winget list --id 360.360DesktopLite --exact
If the successful query shows the intended installation, remove that package:
winget uninstall --id 360.360DesktopLite --exact
This follows the package’s registered removal method; portable packages use their package-manager removal instead. An error or a missing winget match is not proof that the app is absent: check the Windows app list and the original installation method. Follow any vendor confirmation or restart request after saving other work. See Microsoft’s uninstall command documentation.
Data and components to check
The following locations or components need separate decisions. A remaining folder is not automatically disposable.
| Location or component | What to keep or check |
|---|---|
| Desktop files and organized folders | Keep the actual documents and files; shortcut or group disappearance does not establish data deletion. |
| Desktop layout and organizer settings | Record wanted layout before uninstalling; recovery was not tested. |
See 360 Desktop Assistant’s official documentation.
Check the outcome
winget list --id 360.360DesktopLite --exact
A successful package query with no matching row means that package registration was not found. A matching row means it still exists; an error leaves the result unknown. Keep deliberately retained data. Check Task Manager for a process whose executable belongs to this installation, and distinguish another version or a separate companion app before acting.
What Mole lists
The uninstall completed after the vendor’s confirmation pages. The test did not record changes to the data-retention checkbox, so it cannot show which data that option preserved.
What this test covered
The Windows test captured the running app and post-uninstall inventory. Removal reported a restart requirement, but the test did not restart. A human handled the vendor’s retention page. Layout recovery, cloud-synchronized Desktop behavior and an actual upgrade were not verified.
These results are from a development build of Mole. Other released builds were not individually tested.
