# Uninstall Logitech Options on Mac and Keep Wanted Settings

> Remove Logi Options+ or legacy Options, save wanted customizations, review permissions and keep data used by other Logitech apps.

Before removing Logi Options+ or the older Logitech Options, decide which mouse and keyboard customizations you want to keep. Save those settings first, remove the selected application, then review its remaining data and permissions without sweeping away other Logitech software.

## Separate Options From Other Logitech Apps

Logitech's [current removal instructions](https://support.logi.com/hc/en-hk/articles/26832619554711-How-to-completely-uninstall-Logi-Options-and-Options) cover both Options and Options+. Their broad search for Logitech files needs a narrower decision if you still use another Logitech product.

| Item | Decision before removal | What to verify afterwards |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Logi Options+ | Save wanted device customizations | Test the controls you still need |
| Legacy Logitech Options | Record wanted assignments before removing it | Check the actual app name, not just the vendor |
| Standalone Logi Bolt | Decide separately whether to keep it | Do not mistake its uninstaller for an Options uninstaller |
| Logi Tune | Keep it if still needed for other devices | Test those devices after removing Options |

Logitech documents a separate [Logi Bolt app and uninstaller](https://support.logi.com/hc/en-ch/articles/4404721308695-How-to-install-and-uninstall-the-Logi-Bolt-app-on-macOS). It also describes [Logi Tune](https://support.logi.com/hc/en-my/articles/4412711948311-End-of-Life-FAQ-for-the-Camera-Settings-app) as software for webcams, headsets and other collaboration devices. A matching vendor name is not a reason to remove either app.

## Save Customizations Before Removing Local Data

For Options+, read Logitech's [cloud backup instructions](https://support.logi.com/hc/en-001/articles/360023205374-Backup-device-settings-to-the-cloud-in-Logitech-Options). A verified, signed-in account can back up device settings, including button and key assignments, pointer and scroll settings, and application-specific device settings. Flow settings and Options+ app settings are excluded.

Open the device's backup controls, make a current backup and check its computer name and time. Record important assignments separately, especially anything outside the documented backup scope. Do not assume a signed-in account proves that the settings you need were saved.

That page describes Options+, so do not assume it proves the same backup scope or a compatible restore for legacy Options. For the older app, retain a record of the settings you need before changing its installation.

Removing local configuration can mean setting up those customizations again. Reinstalling an application is not the same as restoring a configuration, and a cloud backup is not a complete backup of everything Logitech stores on this Mac.

## Remove the Application Before Searching for Leftovers

Follow Apple's [app removal procedure](https://support.apple.com/102610): quit the chosen app, find it in Finder and check whether that installation supplies an uninstall app or an uninstall feature. Use that vendor-supplied route when available, reading its prompts before confirming.

If no uninstaller is supplied, move only the selected Options application to the Trash. If macOS reports it is in use, follow Apple's advice to quit it or restart before trying again. Do not respond by deleting a whole Logitech support directory.

Logitech's current Options/Options+ cleanup page does not identify one universal uninstaller app path. The documented **Logi Bolt Uninstaller** in **Applications › Utilities** removes the standalone Bolt app, not Options+. Run it only if Bolt is also part of your removal decision.

For the distinction between removing an app and removing its data, see [uninstalling apps without losing data](https://mole.fit/blog/how-to-completely-uninstall-apps-on-mac).

## Inspect Both Library Locations Carefully

Logitech's removal page directs readers to Finder's **Go › Go to Folder**, first for the system Library and then for the user's Library. These are different locations:

```text
/Library
~/Library
```

Its list includes Application Support, Preferences, Caches, LaunchAgents and LaunchDaemons. Treat those as places to inspect, not directories to delete. Search within the intended Library location and establish which product owns each result before moving anything.

If you keep Tune, Bolt or another Logitech app, leave shared or unidentified data in place. The same page lists LogiPluginService and the Options+ Driver Installer separately, so review those components explicitly rather than assuming that moving the main app removed them.

Prefer moving an identified, unwanted item to the Trash over permanent deletion during inspection. Apple's [Trash instructions](https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/mchlp1093/26/mac/26) explain how to put it back while it remains there. This recovery window ends when the item is permanently removed, and restoring files alone does not guarantee a working driver installation.

## Revoke Permissions for the Removed App

In macOS Tahoe 26, open **System Settings › Privacy & Security**, then review **Accessibility** and **Input Monitoring**. Logitech's [permissions guide](https://support.logi.com/hc/en-us/articles/1500005514962-Logi-Options-permissions-on-macOS) identifies both as permissions used by Options+.

Turn off access for the app you removed if it is still listed. Remove its stale list entry where the panel offers that control, while leaving the entries for Logitech apps you kept untouched. Apple's [input-monitoring guide](https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/mchl4cedafb6/26/mac/26) documents the per-app on/off control. Revoking access is separate from uninstalling software.

Do this after the removal decision, not as a first attempt to repair a working Options+ installation. Logitech explains that these permissions support device features, so turning them off while keeping Options+ can disable the very customizations you are trying to test.

## Check Removal and Keep a Recovery Route

Restart as Logitech's cleanup guide directs, then test the mouse, keyboard and any webcam or headset managed by software you kept. Check that the chosen Options app is gone and that no wanted customization depended on it.

If something you need stops working, stop removing data. Reinstall the appropriate software from Logitech's download links and restore a verified compatible backup where available, then test the assignments again before permanently deleting retained data.

For background activity that remains, use [finding apps still running after uninstall](https://mole.fit/blog/app-still-running-after-uninstall-mac). A process belonging to Tune or Bolt is not, by its name alone, evidence that Options removal failed.

## Where Mole Fits

For Mole Mac's app and data review, see the [Logi Options+ tested-app guide](https://mole.fit/tested-apps/logi-options-plus). Keep any shared Logitech data whose owner you cannot establish.

Mole's App Group ownership check refuses to remove a group container when another installed app declares the same group, including another Logitech app. An incomplete ownership check also keeps the group. This is a check for declared App Groups, not a guarantee that every ordinary folder named Logi is protected. An unchecked review row still needs your decision before selection.

## FAQ

### Will Uninstalling Options+ Reset My Customizations?

Plan for reconfiguration if local settings are removed. A verified Options+ backup can restore supported device settings, but Logitech excludes Flow and Options+ app settings from that backup.

### Should I Delete Every File Named Logitech?

No. Keep data used by retained products and anything whose ownership is unclear. Logitech's broad search instructions need that boundary when several Logitech apps share the Mac.

### Is Logi Bolt Uninstaller the Options+ Uninstaller?

No. Logitech documents it for the standalone Bolt application. Check for an uninstall route supplied with the actual Options installation and do not substitute another product's uninstaller.
